Mozilla is a non-profit software development company founded in 1998 by members of Netscape (the original web browser which took an early lead in the explosion in popularity of of the world wide web in the mid 1990s) and was committed to creating open source, free software, and open standards. It consists of a variety of corporations but ultimately manages the web browser FireFox and the technologies behind it.
