The Internet is the communications of millions of computers, connected together, using standard protocols over the world to share and exchange information.

Also known as the World Wide Web.

The Internet became popular in the mid-1990s with the advent of HTML and the HTTP protocol, which is how your web browser (right now) is communicating with this other computer, and displaying this page.
