HTML Source is the code and related files which produce a web page for a particular Web Browser.

To view the HTML Source on various platforms:

Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8 on Windows

  • Right-click on a blank portion of the page
  • Select View Source
  • A window will appear in Notepad

Internet Explorer 6 on Windows

  • Choose View Source from the View menu (left hand side at top of window)

Internet Explorer 7 or 8 on Windows

  • Choose View Source from the Page menu (on the right hand side)

FireFox on Windows

  1. Using Right-Click
    • Right-click on a blank portion of the page
    • Select View Source
    • A window will appear containing the HTML Source
  2. Using the keyboard
    • Type Ctrl-U

FireFox on Mac OS X

  1. Using Right-Click
    • Right-click on a blank portion of the page
    • Select View Source
    • A window will appear containing the HTML Source
  2. Using the menus
    • Choose Page Source from the View menu
  3. Using the keyboard
    • Type Command-U

Safari on Mac OS X
