Domain parking is the registration of an internet domain name that has not been associated with any services such as email or a website. Domain parking may be used in a number of ways:

  • to reserve a domain name for future development
  • as part of an advertising effort that contains advertising listings and links
  • as a placeholder for an existing website
  • utilized before a website is ready for launching

Domain parking can be classified as monetized and non-monetized. Expired domains are often obtained for parked domain monetization as they often continue to receive most of their prior inbound links.
