Acronym. Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.

A test which is very difficult for computers to solve, but relatively easy for humans to. CAPTCHAs are used in contact forms, login pages, or any other Web form where the site wishes to prevent Bots from abusing the system.
