'America Online was renamed to AOL Inc. was an American web portal and online service provider based on New York city and marketed by Yahoo, Inc.
It was, in its heyday, considered the most recognized brand on the internet in the United States; providing dial-up internet access for nearly 20 million Americans in 2000. Since the decline of dial-up internet, AOL moved to media brands and advertising.
