Acronym. PHP: HyperText Processor.
PHP is a Scripting Language or Programming Language which is has object-oriented features, uses a C-like syntax, and has many features which make it easy to develop Web Applications.
PHP is an acronym which contains itself, similar to GNU. This is somewhat of an inside joke with programmers, as it is a recursive definition.
PHP was originally developed in 1995 by Rasmus Lerdorf and has since undergone many revisions.
The current version of PHP is 5.3.0.
