Google Chrome was introduced by Google, Inc. in 2008 on Windows OS and later ported to Android, Mac OS, iOS and Linux.

Chrome open sourced their Chromium code base as part of the release, allowing for better standardization of the web with a common code base which was free for anyone to use.

Currently, Google Chrome is the most widely used browser on the internet, as of December 2025 it has 75% browser market share.
