Social Media is the generic term used to refer to websites whose data model surrounds the personal connections and relationships between human beings. These are called "connections" or use other terms such as "follow", "like" or "friend."
Generally, the Social Media model encourages members to invite and include their personal or professional connections and join the network, which, when implemented successfully, leads to explosive growth in Social Media sites.
