Acronym. HyperText Markup Language.
HTML is the predominant markup language of the internet. Developed initially by Tim Berners-Lee, the first commercially adopted version of HTML is HTML 2.0, found in RFC 1866.
HTML 5 (formerly and commonly spelled HTML5[a]) is a software solution stack that defines the properties and behaviors of web page content by implementing a markup based pattern to it.
HTML 5 is the fifth and current major version of the HTML standard, and subsumes XHTML.
