View source for Why should I turn off legacy tracking?

Basically, because you'll see a lot of garbage data in your reports. Many very popular sites use the term "source" for tracking traffic, and you will see a lot of extraneous data which you don't want to track.

This feature is not visible to accounts created after 2009.
