A scripting language is a programming language designed for integrating and communicating with other programming languages. Scripts are written for a run-time environment that automate the execution of tasks. Scripting languages are often interpreted rather than compiled. Environments that can be automated through scripting include software applications, web pages within a web browser, usage of shells of operating systems, embedded systems, as well as games.
